E m p a t h y. We are all the same. I had an evening tea date with my friend @lanacencic this week. We drank chamomile, sat in comfortable chairs and talked about her work with Eckhart Tolle and my work mentoring with Elephant Journal. We talked about how we are both cultivating empathetic joy. We found clarity together. She told me ego doesn’t like it when things are the same. It must have something different to combat against. Ego likes it when we are above or below other people. Sometimes, when I’m rushing, I forget this. What about my coffee, my words, my art and my recognition? What about me?! And I will always feel underserved when it’s all about me. We are all the same. Our pain is the same. So when someone we know is hurting, we can say, “Hey, I’ve been there.” And when someone we know is flooded with joy and success we can say, “Hey, I’m genuinely happy for you.” No one is getting ahead of us. We aren’t getting ahead of anyone either. We need more of that kind of love. And we need more of us reminding each other that we are all the same. Namaste. ✨ Pc: @michaelcello

J e w e l s. There is nothing left to prove. Settle into a less obvious shape. Find something more compelling than dramatic. Curved hands. Easy feet. Soft elbows. Make a cradle for a jewel—a jewel that is undeniably unique. We don’t have to try so hard. We’re already there. : : : : : : : : : #baghavadgita #jewels #makingshapes #dance #yogaeverydamnday #yogaeverywhere #contemporarydance #yogini #amwriting #wildwoman #yogaonandoffthemat
